How do I lower my cholesteral? Will this help?

Doctor told me my cholesterol was at 280. I’m 32 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weight 168 (Not real heavy but have gained a upper belly the past couple of years). Doc gave me medicine and told me to change my diet. My diet was basically eggs, sausage and cheese every day for breakfast. Burgers, pizza, lots of fast foods, all kinds of meats for dinner, lots of soda and smoke a pack a day.I know, I eat junk. Now I need to eat different but notice now that almost everything has cholesterol and It’s hard for me to eat veggies and other stuff I don’t like (I’m very very picky). I’m thinking that just by cutting off the fast food completely and replacing eggs (king of cholesterol) , sausage and cheese for breakfast with oats and wheats will lower it. Will this do it?

Yes, it will help. Also figs contain cholesterol lowering agents…buy some fig spread and put it on toasted whole grain bread. If you’re not crazy about many veggies, substitute some fruits. The more fresh food you eat, the better, but don’t deny yourself the occasional bit of junk food because you won’t be able to stick to a diet as a lifestyle change if you deny yourself all pleasures. Also, learn to make some of these things at home. Pizza can be made on a tortilla or pita bread, burgers can be made with ground turkey, there’s nothing wrong with egg whites, etc.

Good luck. Quitting smoking will probably be harder. Acupuncture really helped my husband.
