Ldl Cholesterol Calculation
LDL calculation is invalid when the trig is greater than 400mg/dL?
I had bloodwork done last year that was concerning. I’m sure its better now as I’ve shed 30lbs over the summer, but I want to have a better understanding of what was going on and what this means. If someone could PLEASE explain.
My results for Lipid Panel were as follows:
Cholesterol – 184
Trig – 412
HDL Chol – 27
Percent HDL – 15
LDL Chol Calc – <130
then it says "LDL calculation is invalid when the trig is greater than 400 mg/dL"
the naturopath i was consulting with at the time insinuated this could be my heart causing this high result.... but she was very unclear...
can someone help with this? thanks
I forgot to mention I am going to have the same type of bloodwork done again soon because i'm getting ready to have a cosmetic procedure done in Dec and am worried about what to expect and if my heart has a problem i may not want to have procedure if im at risk for complications because of a bad heart... thanks
hmm i bet you didnt fast for this test….. LDL=total cholesterol-(trig/5). with that high of a trig number, it is likely the LDL value will not be accurate. trigs can be high because of eating within 12 hrs before the test
