How to lower LDL cholesterol?

I am a vegetarian.Normally eat less oily food. I do lot of physical exercise like tread mill ,light weight training.Still my LDL levels are 148.HDL does not increase beyond 45-I do not want to go into medicine- what else I can do to lower my LDL

As you probably know:

Your body produces cholesterol, but for most people, this is a very low amount. A person on the Standard American Diet (SAD) will consume a huge amount of animal protein and cholesterol. Even lean cuts of animal flesh contain a huge load of cholesterol in the walls of animal muscle cells. A limited quantity of cholesterol is required to maintain proper cell functioning. Dairy product and egg yokes are very high in cholesterol as well.

Most physicians are not well trained on human nutrition. Their focus in education has been on drugs and surgical interventions. Generally, their treatments are effective in reducing symptoms without treating the cause: lifestyle choices and diet.

What you may not know:

Except in rare cases, cholesterol can be managed through diet. My wife has a genetic predisposition toward high cholesterol but has been successful in controlling it by eating a whole plant based diet devoid of animal products and dairy. If you eat dairy, stop it. If you eat eggs, stop it. These foods are not necessary. If you eat any form of animal flesh, stop it. These foods are totally unnecessary for a healthy diet.

Follow the recommendations of Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr, and many other nutrition researchers who are not bent by industry money.

If you can find a doctor who knows a bit about vegetarianism, that will help. I am fortunate to know such professionals.

I share your concern about statins because of potentially devastating side effects. My wife and I are fortunate in being able to avoid them.
