Hi Hickchick,
It’s great you are trying to help your father-in-law lower his cholesterol. Cholesterol although being somewhat hereditary can be controlled with your diet. There are many things that can be used to help lower his cholesterol points.
Eat blueberries. Blueberries offer antioxidants that will decrease cholesterol.
Eat more bran and oats. Cheerios, oatmeal and bran flakes are all great choices for breakfast. They not only taste great but are good for helping lower bad cholesterol.
Increase omega-3 oils with tuna and other fishes. Fishes offer the great benefit of omega-3 oils which have a beneficial effect on cholesterol.
Eat more almonds to take in more vitamin E, which will helps prevent oxidation of bad cholesterol.
As always he should check with his doctor for a cholesterol-friendly diet. Good Luck!
